Summary

Performs general maintenance duties at the recycling center; assists customers; unloads, sorts bales, loads materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists customers with unloading items from vehicle.
  • Sorts materials received.
  • Picks up cardboard and other materials from businesses.
  • Bales cardboard, cans, plastic, paper and glass.
  • Maintains grounds and buildings at Recycling Center as needed.
  • Assists in loading trailers with materials.
  • Assists in daily operations of managing the booth which includes entering daily tickets, balancing daily receipts and closing out the daily deposit as needed.
  • Performs daily inspections on machinery, equipment, and vehicles, including trailers that are used in daily operations.
  • Coordinates duties and assigns work as necessary to community service volunteers.

This is a non-supervisory position.

Education and/or Experience

High school graduation or its equivalent; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge Of

Proper forklift operation, general grounds and building maintenance.

Skill/Ability To

Drive city vehicles; operate forklift; perform mowing and grounds maintenance; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license.
