Summary

Responsible for all aspects of marketing Brenham and Washington County as a site for group meetings, conventions, trade shows and sporting events which will utilize City of Brenham facilities and amenities to generate a positive economic impact.  Ensure organizers and attendees have a positive experience in Brenham.  Work with other departments to create positive public relationships through various communication platforms, including social media.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to increase business and economic impact from the meeting/group/sports markets
  • Generate demand and secure contracts for the SMERF, corporate and association markets for Brenham's hotels, The Barnhill Center and venues in Brenham and Washington County
  • Prospect new clients and pioneer new business relationships
  • Attend trade shows to generate RFP's for group business
  • Distribute and respond to leads generated using the Customer Relationship Management system; regularly update and maintain CRM system
  • Assist in the production and distribution of sales collateral and promotional items
  • Offer new marketing and sales ideas, particularly where they apply to group business
  • Engage with hotel and community partners. Communicate on a consistent basis with hotel staff
  • Lead coordination of site visits, FAM tours, client receptions, workshops, and location scouting opportunities
  • Manage the request and fulfillment of group servicing for welcome bags;
  • Attend various meetings and training classes; and
  • Answer questions; provide assistance and information to citizens. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This is a non-supervisory position.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in tourism, hospitality, Marketing, Business, or a related field.  At least three (3) years of experience in sales required.  Preferred experience in tourism/DMO, hotel or association sales or management.

Knowledge Of

Knowledge of practices and principals of Destination Marketing concepts; public relations methods and techniques; and effective communication practices.

Skill/Ability To

Excellent written and communication skills; skilled in various computer software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher); industry related CRM systems; self-disciplined and capable of working with little supervision in a fast paced environment; ability to manage multiple projects; ability to research, compile and summarize a variety of information and statistical data; skilled in effective time management and resource utilization; and ability to make oral presentations before the public.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Texas driver's license is required. Certified Meeting Professional and/or Certified Tourism Executive preferred.
