Summary

Supervises and assists maintenance crew in performing street and drainage construction and maintenance work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads a crew of maintenance workers and equipment operators in performing various street construction and maintenance projects, including repairing utility cuts; patching pot holes; constructing streets, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks; laying asphalt; and crack sealing streets;
  • Supervises maintenance workers and equipment operators, including assigning and reviewing work, and conducting performance reviews;
  • Leads a crew of equipment operators and maintenance workers in performing maintenance on drainage systems, including cleaning creeks and ditches, cleaning storm drains, weed eating, and trimming trees;
  • Operates various equipment for street maintenance and construction projects, including loader, backhoe, and roller;
  • Is responsible for the overall maintenance and care of machinery and equipment; and
  • Purchases supplies and materials.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

High school graduation or its equivalent plus at least four years of street maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge Of
Principles of supervisory management; street construction and maintenance procedures and techniques; and safety procedures for job sites and operation of equipment.

Skill/Ability To
Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment, read manuals, letters, and memos; supervise a crew in conducting street maintenance and construction work; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid Class B Texas commercial driver's license (CDL).
